Getting Started

After a good haul at the grocery store I was very excited so I took a few pictures to share with you guys!  Firstly, I purchased the second book to my all-time favorite cookbook series, Tosca Reno's Eat Clean Diet Cookbook!  I highly recommend both the first and second book to everyone!  There are so many easy, delicious and most important: CLEAN recipes!  She uses all types of fruits and vegetables in her cooking which is an excellent way to introduce yourself to new things.

These are my exciting grocery trip finds!  I know it doesn't look like a lot but keep in mind I live alone and only needed to pick up a few things from the store:

Since it is fall, my favorite food season, I purchased some of my most loved vegetables.  Spaghetti squash is a delicious, low- carb alternative to pasta and I must say it's quite fun to make!  Ground beef was on sale so I picked up a club pack.  I'm not a huge fan of ground beef but it was the lean kind, on sale and can be a nice alternative to my usual chicken and fish.  Brussel sprouts are one of my favorite vegetables and I wanted to try a recipe for them that I found in my new cookbook.  Rutabaga is another fall favorite and is delicious when roasted with carrots for an earthy side dish.  I just love beets when roasted or pickled and lastly the pre- cut, pre- washed fruit because I had a busy week with midterms and work so I needed to get my fruit in a pinch!  One of the two things I purchased that I am pretty happy with are the Ziploc individual portion bags: I used them with the ground beef, separating them into individual portion size bags.  I prefer to buy things in bulk because it's more cost- effective but since I live alone I don't always get to it all at once.  This is a big help!  The second thing I bought that I absolutely love is my new meat thermometer!  I tend to overcook my meat because I'm so freaky about meat due to an awful food poisoning incident years ago..  This is such an great kitchen tool to have!

I've been experimenting a lot lately with my cooking and will be sure to post recipes that I enjoy!  Next up will be my "Before"  pictures.  This is such an exciting journey I'm about to embark on and I look forward to sharing it all!

Stay positive, smile lots, and enjoy life everyone!

What this is all about

Hello everyone!  This is my first blog so please be kind.  I'm sure as this continues I'll get better at this but for the time being you're stuck with my kindergarten blogging.  I'm about to embark on my first week of training and I'm feeling very excited.  My whole reason for starting this blog is to share my journey as a 22 year old university student juggling school, part-time work and training to reach my fitness goal, all doing so on a budget.  My ultimate goal is to someday compete.  I'm taking steps towards this goal with a lifestyle change.  I have found a great program, which I'll post a link to below, that I will be starting tomorrow.  Along with that I will be starting to eat clean!  This is the most difficult part but I have many great recipes to share and I'll be sure to include pictures and reviews on the things I try!  I will be posting my before pictures this week and give progress pictures as you join me in my journey.  I'm really looking forward to this new challenge and cannot wait to begin!

Stay tuned for recipes, progress reports and pictures, tips, motivation and positivity!  In the meantime, here are the links to my training program:

Happy training, ya'll!
